Beauty & Curiosity at Dean Heritage Centre

My exhibition with my brother, James Thorne, opens today at Dean Heritage Centre in the Forest of Dean. We're in the little gallery space at the very front of the centre, just after the shop.

Jamie's beautiful large-format photographs depict the beauty and curiosity of the Forest in both black & white and colour, and my lino prints are based around curios and landscapes in wild spaces all around the country.

We're in very good company, with beautiful Forest-themed friezes by school children done as part of the Big Draw 2014 hanging along the lower walls, and the windows by my work look out over the lake with it's beautiful dragon sculpture and series of hand carved, wooden Gruffalo. If you're lucky you might get to see the resident kingfisher swooping and diving out on the water.

You do have to pay to get into the Centre, but it's definitely worth it to then wander around the museums and grounds (they've got several acres of woodland and garden to explore, including Gruffalo and Room On The Broom-themed nature trails for kids). Make a day of it!
